Bethany Church of Randolph is bringing Sr. Simone Campbell to the Chandler Center for the Arts on April 21, 2024.

Sr. Simone is a 2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom winner, and organizer of several Nuns on the Bus tours while serving as the Executive Director of NETWORK, the lobby for Catholic Social Justice. The Nuns on the Bus advocate for economic justice and adequate funding for social safety net programs.

On Chandler’s main stage, Sr. Simone will address economic inequities and poverty in rural communities and how we might bridge the deep political divides among us.

The Chandler doors will open at 1:00 for TED talks by several Vermont Peace and Justice Groups, including Migrant Justice, the VT ACLU and Vermont Interfaith Action.

Sr. Simone’s lecture will begin at 2:00 pm. Admission is free. Donations accepted at the door.

Alasdair Fraser &
Natalie Haas

Friday, May 3 • 7:00 pm

The musical partnership between Alasdair Fraser, long regarded as Scotland's premier fiddle ambassador, and the sizzlingly-talented Californian cellist Natalie Haas may not seem an obvious one, but the duo's dazzling teamwork, driving rhythms, and their shared passion for improvising on the melody and the groove of Scottish tunes has helped reconstruct and revive the Scottish tradition of playing dance music on violin and cello.

Fraser & Haas String Musicians' Workshop

Saturday, May 4 • 10:00 am

String musicians’ workshop: Based on the fiddle music of Scotland and beyond, the workshop is focused on players of violin, viola, cello and string bass, but other instruments are welcome. The level will be for intermediate players and above. The goal is to explore playing traditional music in a group with emphasis on arrangement ideas and the techniques that give traditional music its particular flavour. Using elements of language and dance, fiddle tunes and arrangement ideas work together to form a larger medley. All music will be taught by ear, but music will be provided to take away.

Next Generation

Saturday, May 4 • 7:00 pm

After a hiatus, the popular next Generation performances are back. In 2007, to kick off Chandler's centennial celebration, pianist Christopher O'Riley brought his acclaimed NPR Boston "From the Top" program to the Chandler stage to much audience enthusiasm. Chandler decided to create something similar and for fourteen years enjoyed this engaging look-alike program with young teenage musicians from our own area playing classical music.
