Volunteers

Chandler Center for the Arts thrives on volunteer labor! Over 200 volunteers work in many different capacities to bring performances to the stage and to keep the hall in good working order. This volunteer spirit is one thing that distinguishes our organization from many other arts presenters and performance spaces.

The opportunities for volunteering are many and we'd love to have you join us! If you'd like to volunteer, please, visit our Volunteer Sign Up form. Need more information about our volunteer opportunities? Read on.

Many committees are responsible for a wide range of activities at Chandler Music Hall:

Building Committee:
Members are responsible for the upkeep of the building, each according to their interests and expertise - heating, lighting, kitchen upkeep, storage challenges, costume collection, general maintenance and repair.

Production Committee:
Members attend to the many details of presenting performances: press releases, ad distribution, hospitality, programs and poster production.

Publicity Committee:
Members distribute posters throughout the Central Vermont region, and submit programming information to the calendars of many media sources in Vermont. We welcome help with special publicity efforts for major productions.

Gallery Committee:
Members help to plan exhibits in the Gallery, assist with opening receptions and hanging shows.

Children's Committee:
Members help plan family programming and the Arts in the Schools series and assist at these performances in several capacities.

Tech Crew
Our tech crew is largely run by volunteers, many of them theatre students from area high schools. The responsibility given these workers is substantial, but so is the pride these people feel after a performance! The experience gained from working in this capacity has served many young people well. Several have majored in theatre in college and have had many opportunities open to them because of their past experience and expertise.

Other opportunities:
Volunteer at the New World Festival, held annually on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Many jobs for all ages and abilities are available!

Volunteer to be a Gallery Sitter - your time spent in the Gallery will earn a voucher for a free ticket to upcoming performances sponsored by the Chandler Center for the Arts.

Volunteer as an usher at Chandler performances.

Help with bulk mailings - newsletters, season brochures, and fundraising campaigns.

Help to organize our scene-building and storage space in the basement.

There are many ongoing maintenance projects, such as painting the stage, that require just a few hours of time.
