Volunteer at Chandler
We Couldn’t Do It Without You!
Chandler Center for the Arts thrives on volunteer labor! A task force of 80 volunteers assists paid staff, contributing 600 hours monthly, to facilitate Chandler productions and exhibits and to keep the hall in good condition, despite the challenge of limited financial resources. This volunteer spirit is one thing that distinguishes our community-based organization from many other arts presenters and performance spaces.
The opportunities for volunteering are many and we'd love to have you join us! If you'd like to volunteer, please see our volunteer sign up form or email our volunteer coordinator Marda Donner. Need more information about our volunteer opportunities? Read on!
There are Many Opportunities for Involvement
Many committees are responsible for a wide range of activities at Chandler:
Building Committee: Members are responsible for the upkeep of the building, each according to their interests and expertise—heating, lighting, kitchen upkeep, storage challenges, costume collection, general maintenance and repair.
Production Committee: Members attend to the many details of presenting performances: press releases, ad distribution, hospitality, programs and poster production.
Publicity Committee: Members distribute posters throughout the Central Vermont region, and submit programming information to the calendars of many media sources in Vermont. We welcome help with special publicity efforts for major productions.
Gallery Committee: Members help plan exhibits in the Gallery, assist with opening receptions, and help hang shows.
Tech Crew: Our tech crew is largely run by volunteers, many of them theater students from area high schools. The responsibility given these workers is substantial, but so is the pride these people feel after a performance! The experience gained from working in this capacity has served many young people well. Several have majored in theatre in college and have had many opportunities open to them because of their past experience and expertise. Learn more about our student technical theater program.
