Celebrating the works of the master of the operatic theatre, on the occasion of the centennial of his death.
Giacomo Puccini: Dec 22, 1858 - Nov 29, 1924
Opera Vermont will be celebrating this remarkable composer with a concert of Vermont artists, performing arias and scenes from many of his most popular operas!
In Italian, the celebration of 100 year anniversary is called a "Centenario." This celebration of Giacomo Puccini is celebrating that it has been 100 years since his death. While Puccini-nario may be difficult to say, it is not difficult to see why BARN OPERA would join the world-wide celebration of this master of Italian opera. Known as being a man of the theatre, it is no wonder why such dramatic titles such as Tosca, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, and Turandot would be written by him. However, while this celebration concert will of course have favorites such as Vissi D'Arte, Un. Bel Di Vedremo, and Nessun Dorma, there will be music from his lesser-known works like Edgar, Le Villi, Manon Lescaut and La Fanciulla del West.
