Acclaimed cellist Matt Haimovitz offers a brilliant variation on the concept of A Moveable Feast, serving up a unique experience unparalleled in the classical music world. Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Celloare among the most moving and spiritual compositions for a solo instrument in history. Matt Haimovitz begins the Bach feast on Saturday, performing three of the suites in separate locations throughout the Randolph area. Each suite is accompanied by overtures to Bach commissioned from great contemporary composers including Philip Glass, Vijay Iyer, Du Yun, and others. Then on Sunday, Haimovitz presents a ticketed Chandler Music Hall recital featuring the three remaining Bach suites, each paired with a different overture by a leading modern-day composer.

NOTE: The two Matt Haimovitz “pop-up” events on the afternoon of Saturday, October 6, are free and open to the public. Tickets must be purchased for the Sunday afternoon (October 7) Bach recital in Chandler Music Hall.
