This full-length performance piece will investigate the theme of dying in an uplifting, illuminating, multidisciplinary collage of seven dancers, four musicians, a soundscape, and a sculptural set. It is the collaborative effort of veteran Vermont choreographer and theater artist Tracy Penfield and her longtime collaborator, California-based dancemaker Tamara Hurwitz Pullman. The three movements of Passing will focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms of dying, including a vivid representation of the veil between this world and the place of transformation the ancients Celts called “the Thin Place.” Passing is a powerful examination of what is passed on to us, what we leave behind, and how life continues. Far from being macabre or morbid, Passing will raise a healthy curiosity and an affirming joy in both living and passing on. NOTE: This performance of Passing will be accompanied by an afternoon storytelling and movement workshop for members of the community.
