“At The Right Place At The Right Time”

photos by Jon Gilbert Fox

I was pleased and honored when the folks who run the Vermont Pride Theater Festival at Chandler asked me to be a guest artist. I thought it a good chance to share some of my theater and dance photography, appropriate to showing there, but I wanted to feature some of the gay artists I’ve photographed, as well. That expanded to literary lights and faces of advocates and friends.

So, this ‘virtual exhibition’ virtually covers my photographic career. Since the day my mother put an old Kodak camera in my hands when I was eight years old, I have used lenses and film to capture and interpret the world around me. As a freelancer specializing in theater and dance, I had the pleasure of spending time with and photographing many great artists. As circumstances and geography changed my subject matter, I ended up creating images of people and places throughout the world. As a result of working for many diverse publications, from the New York Times to Vermont Life Magazine, I landed in venues and situations that afforded me wonderful subjects for my craft.

So, thanks to those who believed in what I created, I found myself most often at the right place at the right time. That is a gift I will always cherish. I hope you like the results.
