Performances & Events

Chandler is proud to present another exciting season of diverse performances. In addition to our MainStage series, we offer Live & Upstairs, a series of smaller, more intimate performances in the renovated Esther Mesh Room in Chandler’s Upper Gallery. The Daytime Performance Series serves hundreds of youth from area schools and homeschool families, and is open to the general public, as well.

The Seldom Scene
Apr 12 @ 7:30 pm
The Seldom Scene @ Chandler Center for the Arts | Randolph | Vermont | United States

It has been 40 years since they began playing together at weekly jam sessions in band founder Ben Eldridge’s Maryland basement. The Seldom Scene have evolved to become one of the greatest contributors to the progressive bluegrass sound, drawing both longtime fans and passionate new audiences to the music. Their performances feature a head-spinning mix of bluegrass-inflected country, rock, and pop hits that’s truly “seldom seen” anywhere — except, of course, at one of their memorable concerts. Today’s Seldom Scene feature Dudley Connell (guitar, vocals), Lou Reid (mandolin, vocals), Ronnie Simpkins (bass, vocals), Fred Travers (dobro, vocals), and Ron Stewart (banjo, fiddle).

Della Mae
May 3 @ 7:30 pm
Della Mae @ Chandler Center for the Arts | Randolph | Vermont | United States

The Grammy-nominated Della Mae has established a reputation as a charismatic, hard-touring live act, building a large and enthusiastic fan base while racking up massive amounts of critical acclaim. Sensitive yet assertive, these versatile instrumentalists and vocalists draw from a bottomless well of roots influences to create vibrantly original music that explores timeless lyrical truths. Their unmistakably contemporary relevance places them alongside such tradition- and socially-conscious young acts as the Avett Brothers, Punch Brothers, the Lumineers, and Shovels & Rope. And of special note to regional music fans: guitarist/vocalist Celia Woodsmith is a Vermont native and former member of the celebrated roots duo Avi & Celia.
