MORE INFO
Founding member of Grammy-award winning western swing group Asleep at the Wheel, Leroy Preston plays a variety of music including swing, honky-tonk country and jazzy blues tunes.
Leroy began performing as a Vermont-based musician and went on to found, tour and record with the Grammy-award winning western swing group Asleep at the Wheel.
He later moved to Nashville where he spent many years as a professional songwriter. He wrote the number 1 chart hit (“My Baby thinks He’s a Train”) for Rosanne Cash and has had other top ten hits by Cash and Asleep at the Wheel as well as top 40 hits for the Wheel, k.d. Lang and Lee Roy Parnell.
His co-writing skills lead him to alliances with popular artists Los Lobos, Marshall Crenshaw, Rosie Flores, Robert Earl Keen, Dennis Loccoriere, The Cate Brothers, and many others who have recorded his material.
After a long hiatus, Leroy has reemerged with some wonderful new songs supported with an all-star cast of musicians. The Vermont Sessions project is now streaming on all major platforms, released November 19, 2024.
