Vermont Girls Choir is a choral education program welcomed to all girls grades 4-12 (and open to recent graduating seniors). Vermont Girls Choir provides the highest quality of choral music and performance education while integrating important values helping build confidence, leadership, independance, community and artistry. Repertoire will include genres such as, motets, madrigals anthems, pop songs, shape note, African- American spirituals, gospel, broadway show tunes, cultural folk music (a variety different countries), Quebecois music, excerpts from large works such as Requiems, Canatas, Oratorios, and many more. The variety of genres will range from sacred to secular. Education, appropriate maturity levels, and respectfully including music from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures will be the foundation of integrating repertoire. Most importantly, Vermont Girls Choir is all about developing an experience of community and sisterhood. Each chorister will grow, learn and strive to be the best person they can possibly be.

This choir is for outstanding musicians, experienced singers, older aged extremely dedicated choristers. This choir will sing more difficult repertoire and ALWAYS be expected to serve as leaders as well as set a prime example of what the “ideal” chorister should be. Some of the choristers will serve as T.A.s or teaching assistants for the younger division choir, helping teach the very fundamentals of music theory as well as singing and setting examples during and outside the rehearsal.

Once registration is complete, choristers will be asked to submit a 3 minute video (with guided and specific musical tasks). This will give the conductor and idea of where your chorister is at musically and will be able to provide the attention to both your child and also fitting inside the needs of the choir as a whole. If you are unable to submit a video you will have the opportunity to schedule a recorded phone interview with Jessie Pierpont in lieu of the recorded video.

It will be important that choristers that can attend camp each day in order to learn the music. There will be a mandatory Dress rehearsal and Concert on Friday the 30th. The dress rehearsal will be from 4-5 and the concert/recording at 6. The concert will be live streamed, at this time it is uncertain whether we will be able to have an in-person audience.

Girls from this group may have the opportunity to serve as a Lead Chorister with the younger group the following week.

This choir is meant to serve as a foundation choir of which all learning and musicianship will be demonstrated at a basic fundamental level. All choristers will have the opportunity to sing and be part of this very exciting choir! This choir is the less experienced- no previous music experience- in addition to the age factor. The Vermont Girls Choir (grades 9- 12 (and any recent graduating senior) division that are in this choir will serve as a LEAD CHORISTER, helping to lead the younger girls in proper singing, musicianship and overall skills. The older choristers in addition to serving as a leader will be accountable for more singing opportunities (singing harmonies, descants, ect). The younger girls will see these leadership qualities from prime leading examples and grow in their own music aptitude.

Once registration is complete, choristers will be asked to submit a 3 minute video (with guided and specific musical tasks).
